Nie ma nic nudniejszego w literaturze, niż ludzie opisujący swoje sny. Wydaje się takiej czy takiemu, że dowolne głupstwo mogą napisać, że fabuła może się im rozłazić, logika zdarzeń kuleć, a postaci historyczne mogą w najlepsze wykonywać dowolne działania, na przykład wycinać z trzustki torebki po herbacie. Bo oniryczność niby wszystko usprawiedliwia. Jest to nudne, głupie, egotyczne i, jakkolwiek bawi autora czy autorkę, przeważnie niewnoszące kompletnie niczego. Więc dlaczego Kąckiej się udało? Dlaczego niegłupie, nienudne i ciekawe? Czy to w ogóle jest sprawiedliwe?

Opis

Eliza Kącka istnieje naprawdę, jest adiunktem na polonistyce Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego, ale od sześciu do siedmiu godzin na dobę przebywa w czwartym wymiarze. Zajmuje się tam śnieniem. Sennik Artemidora rozróżniał przywidzenia senne, onyphnia, i fabularne sny głębokie – oneiromata. Kącka wiernie spisała trzydzieści dziewięć takich onejromatów z lat 2014-2018. Relacje te, gdzie występuje w roli bohaterki, ściśle oddają logikę życia wewnętrznego, odsłaniając ciemną podszewkę dnia nie gorzej niż poezja. Stąd tytułowa aluzja do przygód bohaterki Lewisa Carrolla. Ale tym razem jest tak, jakby Alicja sama opowiadała swoje wyprawy na drugą stronę lustra. W tym zwierciadle miejsca i osoby to oniryczne projekcje faktów w pełni realnych: autorka istotnie mieszkała (i mieszka) na warszawskiej ulicy Sieleckiej, odwiedza rodzinny Lidzbark Warmiński i w okresie notowania snów trudziła się nad pracą doktorską o Stanisławie Brzozowskim. Jest to więc autobiografia eksperymentalna, skłaniająca do refleksji, zabawna i śmiała, ujęta w oryginalnym, zapadającym w pamięć stylu. Jak na badaczkę literatury przystało, Kącka wpisuje się nią w fascynujący szereg polskich Widzących we Śnie, których szereg otwiera sam Adam Mickiewicz.

„Sny Kąckiej odznaczają się wybitną bezczelnością. Raz traktują jawę z karygodną dezynwolturą, jak materię plastyczną, z której lepią świat zupełnie osobny – a wtedy Elizie wyrasta ogon albo gawędzi z Immanuelem Kantem, małym jak szczurek, a potem wsadza do koperty i wysyła do Królewca. Innym razem śmieją się z niedorzeczności jawy i przedrzeźniają jej powagę – wówczas Eliza pije wodę z Wisły razem z najwyższymi czynnikami państwowymi albo wciąga pył ze zrujnowanej Warszawy. A najdziwniejsze, że zapisane (prawdopodobnie już po przebudzeniu) nie tracą niczego ze swej odurzającej mocy i zachowują roztargniony urok.”

Kącka wydobywa ze snu, czy też raczej z opisu snu, przede wszystkim jego walor literacki. Wykorzystuje jego potencjał fabularny, walory językowe oraz siłę mechaniki wyobraźni. Jej opisy snów czytałem jak dziełka literatury gnomicznej, miniaturowe opowiadania albo poematy prozą, mające główną bohaterkę i fabułę, czasem całkiem wyraźnie (jak na sen) zarysowaną.
